White trigonal crystals, Stable. Incompatible with reducing agents, strong acids, organic materials, finely powdered metals. Oxidizer. Soluble in water, ethanol, pyridine, and ammonia. Its aqueous solution is neutral.
It has various uses, such as in the production of nickel batteries, organic synthesis, and as a catalyst for the production of hardened oil used in paints. It is also used as a raw material for other nickel salts, for metal coloring, and as a mordant for vat dyes.
