A 50–55% aqueous solution of lithium bromide is used in air-conditioning systems as desiccant. It is also used in absorption chilling along with water (see absorption refrigerator).

Chemical Properties:

Pure lithium bromide solution is colorless, transparent, odorless, non-toxic, and easily deliquescent.

A 50%-55% lithium bromide solution is a highly efficient water vapor absorbent and air humidity regulator, widely used in the refrigeration industry as an absorption refrigerant and in the organic industry as a hydrogen chloride remover and organic fiber expander. Additionally, it has applications in photography and analytical chemistry.
